Natural Ingredient Contains Many Beneficial Oils
VOYA Organic Beauty from the Sea, based in Ireland, has just signed on to be represented in the U.S. by SpaCare Group, a division of SpaEquip Inc. VOYA is a family-owned company based on the west coast of Ireland, an area famous since 1912 for offering healing baths using freshly hand-harvested organic seaweed. The brand consists of complete lines for face, body, hair and lifestyle, and has secured a spot in some of Ireland’s most exclusive spas and international resorts.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen to represent the VOYA line in the U.S.,” Melanie Edwards, general manger of SpaCare Group, said. “The caliber of this line is a perfect fit with our portfolio, and we look forward to introducing VOYA’s amazing lines to distinguished properties on this side of the Atlantic.”
Since 1912, County Sligo has been popular for its therapeutic seaweed bath houses. The Walton family established the VOYA Seaweed Baths in 2000 to reinstate this tradition in the small village of Strandhill, after the last of the original bath houses was destroyed by hurricane Debbie in 1961. As the popularity of the Walton’s Seaweed Baths grew and spread, more and more patrons wondered if there was some way they could replicate the experience in their own homes. As a result, in 2007, VOYA Organic Beauty from the Sea was established.
The Waltons worked with marine biologists, organic cosmetic scientists and dermatologists to develop a pure line of products that delivers the deeply hydrating, softening, detoxifying and collagen-stimulating properties of Atlantic seaweed. This particular type of seaweed found on the Irish coast naturally absorbs or metabolizes nourishment from the sea. As a result, seaweed contains countless minerals, vitamins and beneficial ingredients in high concentrations. In fact, no plant known has a comparable quantity of minerals and vitamins.
When seaweed is steamed, it produces amazingly luxurious oils. These oils (complex polysaccharides, proteins, minerals and vitamins) are naturally suspended in the water and as heat has opened the body’s pores in a warm bath, these oils are readily absorbed. The experience is highly sensual and thoroughly relaxing. Seaweed baths have been a great attraction for years, often used as a way of relaxing, relieving pain, and in more modern times, as a great way to unwind and de-stress. This is largely due to the detoxifying effects of the seaweed and recuperative effects of its high mineral content.
Seaweed acts as an amazing conditioning agent for the skin and hair. It is used as a treatment for cellulite and has anti-aging capabilities. Seaweed also detoxifies the body. Quite simply, it is a large poultice, quickly removing toxins while transferring nutrients to the body.
“VOYA is proud to be partnered with Spa Care Group,” Mark Walton said of the partnership. “As an established company, Spa Care Group has excellent standards and is a perfect fit for our brand. We’re pleased to be working closely with them in the future.”
