Why Get Monthly Facials

Facials Part Of Healthy Skin Care

Professional facials are way beyond pampering.  They are essential for repairing skin issues to keep the face looking younger.
Normally your skin cells turnover approximately every 30 days but as we move on in life this process slows down which causes aging. Exposure to elements on a daily basis–sun, wind, cold, heat, pollution, stress, etc. also elicits more aging, sensitivity, dehydration, and more. Monthly facial treatments will assist to reverse this damage by repairing the skin’s barrier, adding moisture, reducing sensitivity, calming redness, firming and toning, reducing lines, wrinkles and even breakouts.

The facial starts with a skin analysis, then a deep cleansing and extraction for clear, smooth skin.  Next, based on your skin analysis, a massage and mask, LED light therapy or other modality for anti-aging or acne.

My treatments include a neck/shoulder massage and head massage. I also incorporate energy healing modalities for further relaxation. The touch that you receive is proven to assist in strengthening your immune system and to reduce stress levels. This will allow a more youthful, healthier looking face and body.

Your face is what people see first, so take care of it with a professional facial treatment NOW.  Remember also that your home care routine is very important between facials to continue overall skincare improvement.  I use the Pevonia product line.  It is safe and effective in keeping your skin young and healthy.

Make Your Own Mask, Body Peel From Natural Ingredients

Feed Your Skin With Natural Ingredients

If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin. That’s been our skin care advice for years and the evidence continues to pour in about the dangers of toxic ingredients. The good news is that natural and organic products are easier to find every year. However, another option is to make your own skin care products from your own natural ingredients. here are two great examples of how easy and healthy it can be to make your skin shine.

Salt & Oil Body Peeling

Two tablespoons salt (sea salt or table salt), 2 – 4 teaspoons almond oil or cooking oil, 2 – 4 drops sea-buckthorn berry oil. Mix the ingredients in a bowl. Apply this scrub all over before a shower and rinse off with warm water

Facial Mask

Two tablespoons quark, ½ teaspoon honey, a squeeze of lemon juice.

Mix well and apply to the face. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse off with warm water. The quark moisturizes, the lemon regulates acidity and the honey soothes the skin.

Feed Your Face With Kale

Fruits, Vegetables, Plants Secrets To Healthy Skin

The superfood kale is now making its way into skin care with the organic brand Éminence set to release a citrus and kale serum next month.

Kale is high in vitamin K. Just one cup of chopped kale contains 206 percent of your recommended daily intake of vitamin A, 134 percent of vitamin C, and a whopping 684 percent of vitamin K – but would you put it on your face? With added ingredients like spinach, broccoli, avocado, lemon, and grapefruit, the $110 serum claims to brighten and lighten sun-damaged skin, prevent inflammation, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Spinach is loaded with beta-carotene and lutein, two nutrients that have been shown to improve skin elasticity, according to a study in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry.

Meanwhile avocado – applied topically – has long been touted to moisturize the skin, treat sunburn and reduce wrinkles, and grapefruit, loaded with vitamin C, helps fade spots by reducing excess production of skin pigment. And kale’s vitamin K, which in the body plays a major role in helping blood to clot properly, is often used topically to treat rosacea, remove spider veins and stretch marks, and speed up skin healing after surgery – reducing bruising, swelling and scars.

Dr. Pauline Hili, who is behind the skin care brand Nourish and who recently launched a kale anti-aging eye cream, told The Telegraph that ‘kale is a super-food with one of the highest levels of beneficial vitamins, particularly vitamin K.

“We know that topical addition of vitamins can be up to 100 times more effective for the skin,” she explained. “It just makes sense to use this ingredient as a powerhouse to re-invigorate the skin. Its delicate effectiveness makes it particularly suitable for around the eye.”

Nourish’s Revital-Eyes Kale Biomimetic Anti-Aging Eye Cream promises to protect skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and redness, while promoting healing and a reduction in puffiness. But while the benefits of eating kale, which is also loaded with antioxidants that can quench free radicals, have been proven time and time again, the dark green leaf still needs further study when it comes to its effectiveness in skin care according to dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe.

“Kale has the potential to be a great anti-aging ingredient and could potentially even help boost the protective effects of sunscreen,” Dr. Bowe told MailOnline. “But it still needs further study to ensure that those effective ingredients can penetrate the surface layers of the skin, and are stabilized in such a way as to still be effective by the time they reach the skin.”

That someone is Éminence and that product is a natural, organic, citrus + kale serum, or as the internet has dubbed it, the “salad serum.” This liquid claims to brighten your skin, lighten sun damage, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and prevent inflammation. It also contains spinach, broccoli, avocado, lemon and grapefruit (which I swear is a near-identical juice recipe I’ve had before).

After reading about this kale serum, I checked out other Éminence products and it is a veritable feast of food products. At a quick glance I saw guava, blackberry, red currant, tomato seed, even yam and pumpkin. The kale serum is not out until June, so until then, we’ll just have to stick to kale smoothies and salads.
